Pancakes

I love pancakes. Here are the ingredients I use:

Flour, Milk, Water, Eggs.

Simple. And delicious.

For some reason, we ended up with a packet of ready-made pancakes in our cupboard. Here’s what Tesco use:

Water, Wheat Flour, Vegetable Oil, Dextrose, Sugar, Egg, Whey Powder, Emulsifier (Mono- and Di-Glycerides of Fatty Acids), Salt, Acidity Regulator (Ascorbic Acid), Flavouring, Raising Agent (Sodium Bicarbonate), Preservative (Potassium Sorbate)

My wife had had the misfortune to taste them before, and she’d warned me that they were awful. Well, it seemed a shame not to eat them, so today I discovered just how right she was. I’m not one for throwing food out, but these should have gone straight in the bin.

(Note: I did manage to get through them, but needed to increase the amount of lemon juice with every one to hide the taste.)
